Robert Steven Root, 64, died at 10:52 A.M. on Saturday, December 21, 2013, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.
Robert was born on Monday, October 31, 1949, in Lima, Ohio, to the late John E. Root and Louella [Crow] Root.
He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, the American Legion Post #96 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370. He served in the United States Marine Corp.
He is survived by a son Brian (Deb) Duvernay of Harrod; four sisters Julie Lee of Wapakoneta, Vickie (Aimel) Gibson of Cridersville, Darlene Hammond of Dayton and Lisa Root of Lima. Also surviving are two grandchildren Alexandria and Mason Duvernay.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jack Root.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Monday, December 23, 2013 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
A memorial service will follow visitation at 6:00 P.M. with Father David M. Ross officiating.
Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family.
