Robert E. Sanderson
80, died at 7:30 AM on Friday, August 08, 2014, at home following a brief illness.
Robert was born on March 31, 1934, in Lima, Ohio, to Harold Sanderson and Berneice (Hayman) Sanderson.
On June 9, 1952 he married Lois Cole, who survives in Lima. They celebrated 62nd wedding anniversary this year. He was a 1952 graduate of Lima South High School. He played football, basketball and baseball. He retired from the Ford Motor Company after 37 years. He was active in the Lima Midget Football Association for many years and served as president and treasurer. He coached the Destroyers and was an assistant coach for the Hornets. He enjoyed spending time at the cottage with his family and friends, boating, skiing, fishing and playing euchre. He was a big Ohio State fan also. Bob was a loving husband and father to five children, 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the Lima Convalesant Home, St. Rita's Home Health Care and Hospice.
He is survived by: a son David (Lisa) Sanderson, of Lima, OH; a daughter, Sally (Mike) Middaugh, of Broken Arrow, OK; a son, Scott (Cheryl) Sanderson, of Lima, OH; a daughter, Penny Sanderson, of Lima, OH; seven grandchildren, Andy (Kristin) Sanderson, Amy Strait, Eric Lowther, Cole Sanderson, Cody Sanderson, Brittany (Andy) King, Brooke (Brent) Farley; six great grandchildren, Sammy Sanderson, Molly Sanderson, Blake Roush, Tenley King, Everley King, Adelynn Farley; a brother & sister-in-law, Roger (Theresa) Cole; a sister-in-law, Lois Sanderson.
He was preceded in death by: a daughter, Pamela (George) Lowther; a brother, Richard Sanderson.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Monday, August 11, 2014 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A Funeral Service will begin at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, OH. Rev. Wanda Werking will officiate.
Interment will be in Allentown Cemetery, Allentown, Ohio.
