Robert L. Shrider

Robert “Bob” L. Shrider, 83, passed away at 2:19 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s.

Bob was born on July 4, 1939 in Harrod, Ohio, to the late Donald and Helen (Iiames) Shrider.  On April 7, 1963 he married Marlene A. (Armentrout) Shrider, who preceded him in death on September 14, 2017.

Bob had worked in sales at Teledyne/Ohio Steel for 45 years.  He went on to work for McDaniel Equipment and then KOI Siferd Hossellman for another 11 years before truly retiring.  He was a member of the Forest Park United Methodist Church, and was on the Executive Board and Committee Chairman for the Black Swamp Area Council, Boy Scouts of America.

He is survived by his son, Dale (Patty) Shrider of Hilliard; daughter, Laura (Philip) Stirn of Lima; grandchildren: Emily Shrider, Jessica Shrider, David Stirn, Aaron Stirn, Joel Stirn.  Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lewis “Butch” (Mary Lou) Shrider.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2022 and one hour prior to service on Saturday, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio.  The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2022.  Rev. Lynn Huffman will officiate.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts/Black Swamp Area Council - Building Fund, or Alzheimer’s Association – Northwest Ohio Chapter, to honor the memory of Marlene.
