Robert W. "Bob" Snider,
87, of Lima, Ohio died on Thursday, January 10, 2013, at 2:36 P.M. at Springview Manor Nursing Home in Lima, Ohio.
Born October 1, 1925 in Allen County, Ohio, he was the son of the late Ralph Snider and the late Breata (Laman) Snider.
Robert married June Hart on July 5, 1975 and they were married for 37 years. She survives in Lima. He graduated from Lima South High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946 during World War II. He worked at the Standard Oil Refinery, and retired after 34 years. He was a Life Member of the VFW 1275; a member of the National LCI Association (Navy); a member of Ohio LCI Association; a member of the Sohio 25 Century Club; and a Charter Member of the WWII Memorial (Washington, DC). He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, playing golf and playing with his grandkids.
Surviving are: a son, Robert W. Snider, Jr. of Kentwood, MI; a daughter, Cathy Sue (David) Knottnerus of Comstock, MI; two step-sons, Pastor Richard (Joyce) Hart of Elida, OH, and Ronald Hart; ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; a brother, Ralph W. (Anne) Snider of Lima, OH.
He was preceded in death by: a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy (Victor) Cleaves.
A funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Monday at the Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Hart officiating.
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, OH. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the VFW Post 1275.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2013, at the Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
