Robert Widmer

Robert C. Widmer , 67, died at 9 p.m. April 21, 2009, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 11, 1941, in Elliston to Carl and Dorothy Reinbolt Widmer, who preceded him in death. His stepmother, Rhea Widmer, survives. On July 16, 1960, he married Carole Brown, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Widmer retired from General Dynamics Army Tank Plant. He was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church, where he served as bingo manager for 15 years and had been an usher for several years. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370. He had been a Boy Scout leader. He enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing, hunting, watching sports and family vacations. Survivors also include four sons, Gary Widmer, of Oregon, Ohio, Bill (Michelle) Widmer and Jeff Widmer, both of Delphos, Ohio, and Rob (Sherry) Widmer, of Lima, Ohio; four daughters, Karen (Marlin) Pitchford, of Massillon, Ohio, and Laurie (Mike) Sealscott, Mary (Dennis) Brock and Kellie (Dustin) Bush, all of Lima, Ohio; a brother, Russell (Marion) Widmer, of New York; two sisters, Laura Knoblauch, of Millbury, and Carol (Bill) Wagoner, of Nebraska; a sister-in-law, Donna Widmer, of Millbury; and 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Widmer. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cable Road Missionary Alliance Church. Pastor Greg Tselle will officiate. Friends may call from noon to 2 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Jill?s House, 751 E.
