Robert Ernest Workman

Robert Ernest Workman,
97, was called home by his Lord, at 1:06 PM on Monday, January 9, 2017, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice in Van Wert, Ohio.

Robert was born on April 17, 1919, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Clarence & Ethel Mae (Folk) Workman.

He served in the Army during WWII in Biloxi, Mississippi. He retired from the PPG Industries as their Branch Manager. Robert married Cleo Lucille Chiles on February 24, 1946. She preceded him in death on April 3, 2015. He was a 1937 graduate of Lima South and played on the winning football team between South and Central which was the first game played on the new Lima Stadium field in 1936. He later attended Bluffton University. Bob and Lucille were members of Forest Park United Methodist Church, and were in many square dance clubs throughout the area including the "Silver Spurs". They traveled extensively, with friends to square dance conventions.

He is survived by his son Craig (Debra) Workman, of Lima, OH and daughter, Cheryl (Jim) Kitchen, of Lima, OH two granddaughters, Jessica (Alex) Coleman, of Westerville, OH and Kate Workman, of Nashville, TN; two great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Pat Chiles, of Degraff, OH; and several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Rex and three brothers, Guy Workman, Don Workman, and Paul Workman.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.

A funeral service will begin at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Forest Park United Methodist Church. Rev. Tim Benjamin will officiate.

Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum, Lima, Ohio.
