Roger Evans

ROGER W. EVANS, 68, died at 8:25 p.m. June 4, 2006, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born April 17, 1938, in Lima to Wayne and Leone Bussert Evans, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 1, 1962, he married Susan K. Robertson, who preceded him in death. Mr. Evans had been a general sales manager of the John Siegler Co. and Fruit Distributors. Following his retirement he worked at Uptown Catering. He was a member of Spencerville United Church of Christ, Spencerville. He was a member and past president of the Lima Area Jaycees, a member of the Allen County Republican Party and a former member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54. He was a 1956 graduate of Lima Senior High School, which was the first class to graduate from there, and he attended The Ohio State University. He was an Army veteran serving from Sept. 23, 1958, to Sept 22, 1960. He loved history and was an avid reader. Survivors include two sons, Daron (Nanette) Evans and Erich (Windy) Evans, both of Lima; six grandchildren, Curtis Evans, Meagan Evans, Justin Evans and Emilee Evans, all of Lima, Drew Evans of Wellsville, N.Y., and Ian Evans of Lima; and a sister-in-law, Sally Clemans of Lima. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Jason Evans; and a brother, Derek Evans. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Ron Shifley will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
