ROGER BLAINE SANFORD, 78, died at 2:20 a.m. June 15, 2005, at Plus Health Care Center. He was born October 14, 1926, in Lima, Ohio to Blaine E. and Blanche Myrtle Williss Sanford, who preceded him in death. On September 3, 1948, he married Winona Eileen Weidel, who survives in Lima. Mr. Sanford had worked for Sweeney Engineering and Tilton & Smith-Boughan out of Pipefitters Local 776, where he had been a member for 50 years. He was a member Central Christian Church. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving from Jan. 8, 1945, to Nov. 21, 1946. He enjoyed playing pinochle with close friends and family. Survivors also include a son, Rodney (Janice) Sanford of Lima, Ohio; two daughters, Cheryl (John) Banner of Dublin, Ohio and Beth Sanford of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Mary (James) Feustel of Miamisburg, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Laura Sanford, Blaine Sanford and Scott Banner. He was preceded in death by two infant brothers. Memorial services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Central Christian Church. The Revs. Thomas Jewell and Mark Tisch will officiate.
