Rolland P. Smith,
95, of Elida, was called away to his Heavenly home on June 28, 2017 from St. Rita's Inpatient Hospice at 6:43 p.m.

He was born in Allen County of August 28, 1921, to Walter F. and Iva (Harpster) Smith, who preceded him in death. On May 15, 1947, he married Florence (Music) who entered God's Heavenly gates in 2014. They were married for 66 years.

Rollie served in the US Army during WWII in northern France and central Europe. He was retired from Ex-Cello where he cut blades for jet engines. He was a Charter member of Faith Baptist Church in Elida. Rollie enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and his 5 loving kitties. He always had a big garden until he was 94.

He is survived by 2 sons, Walter J. (Jane) Smith and William E. Smith, all of Lima. A daughter, Nancy Carol Jolly is deceased. He has 3 grandchildren, Carey E. Brentlinger, Matthew E. (Lerma) Smith, and Mark R. (Lisa) Smith, and 8 Great-Grandchildren. Charlie M., Chandler M. and Chase M. Brentlinger, Samuel M. and Adam W. Smith, Vincent C. Helton, and Paige A. and Ethan T. Smith. He is survived by 2 sisters, Marge Sellers and Virginia Bailey. His brother, Walt and sisters, Charlotte and Grace also preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2017 and one hour prior to the service on Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home at 920 North Cable Rd., Lima, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, July 3, 2017 at the funeral home. Pastor Tom Cooper of Faith Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Matthew's Cemetery, Cridersville. Graveside Military Honors will be conducted by VFW Post #1275.
