Ronald D. ?Butch? Rex 70, died at 1:10 a.m. February 20, 2010, at his residence. Mr. Rex was born May 25, 1939, in Vaughnsville, Ohio to Robert Monroe and Esther Hazel Hershey Rex, who preceded him in death. On July 29, 1961, he married Marilyn A. Phillips, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Rex was a member of the first graduating class of Bath High School in 1957. He attended Lima Community Church of the Nazarene. He was a member of Ford UAW Retirees Ramp Crew building ramps for the handicapped. This work held a special place in his heart. He had been an inspector and machine oiler for Ford Motor Co., retiring after 41 years. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370 and American Legion Post 96. He was a great handyman and woodworker. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He had been a member of the 198th Infantry, Army National Guard. Survivors include a son, Michael Rex, of Sachse, Texas; two daughters, Joyce (Robert) Chidester, of Marion, Ohio, and Angela (Ed Hahn) Rex, of Lima, Ohio; three brothers, Jack (Carolyn) Rex, of Lafayette, Ohio, George (Deb) Rex, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, and Denny (Helen) Rex, of Laurinburg, N.Carolina; a sister, Shirley Rex, of Lima, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Ginger Rex, of Lima, Ohio; three grandchildren, Justin (fianc?e Kayla Spallinger) Rex, Matthew Chidester, and Adam Chidester; and a great grandchild, Adalynn Rex. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert ?Bob? Rex and Paul Rex; a sister, Linda Rex; and a grandson, Joshua Chidester. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lima Community Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. Daniel Huckins will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
