Ronald J. "Ron" Truex,
80, of Lima, Ohio died on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at 4:54 p.m. at Kindred Hospital Lima, OH.
Born July 31, 1932 in Weirton, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Leonard Truex and the late Margaret (Robinson) Truex.
Mr. Truex married Rue Coulter on January 8, 1960 in Decatur, Indiana. He retired from the Lima Fire Department as a Captain, and was also owner and operator of Truex Excavating. He was a 1951 graduate of Central High School where he was a track star. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 96, Lima and the VFW Post 1275, Lima. He was a life member of the N.R.A. He was a backhoe operator and was always digging up something. He loved wildlife and raised swans for almost 25 years. He also loved hunting, fishing, and traveling in Alaska. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
Surviving are his son, Ron (Marta) Truex of Lima, OH; three grandsons, Ethan Truex, Brayden Truex, and Connor Truex; three brothers, Leonard "Sonny" (Sonya) Truex of Lima, OH, Art (Sue) Truex of Fontana, CA and Larry (Helen Buckner) Truex of Parrish, FL; nephews, Miles (Christine) Truex, Jamie Truex, and Francis (Lisa) Truex, and a niece, Lugene (Kim) Pittenger.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, February 22, 2013, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, following with a Lima Fire Fighters Memorial Service at 8:00 P.M.
A Funeral service will be at 9:00 AM on Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Szobonya officiating.
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima. Military Graveside Service will be conducted by VFW Post 1275.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Lima Firefighter's Memorial Museum.
