Ronald “Ron” Shanahan

83, died at 11:07 PM on Thursday, October 19, 2017, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.

Ronald was born on Sunday, August 5, 1934, in Fremont, Ohio, to the late George Shanahan  and Elizabeth (Druckenmiller) Shanahan.  He married Frances "Fran" (Pence) Shanahan, she survives in Lima.

Ron was a graduate of Freemont High School. After graduating High school Ron spent two years in Seminary; He then went on to join the Air Force where he served for four years, stationed in Alaska. Ron was retired from General Dynamics where he had worked as an inspector for over 30 years. He was a fan of the Cleveland Indians and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed boating and fishing, his family and his beloved dog Sissy.

He is survived by  a daughter, Ronda (Dan) Myers, Phoenix, AZ; two grandsons, Brad Swainston, and Nick Swainston; his siblings, Tim  (Joanne) Shanahan, Terry (Shirley) Shanahan, Kathleen Smith, and Sharon Frantz, and Peggy Norton, all of Fremont, OH; two step daughters, Terri (Greg) Marti, and Laura (Kelly) Hastings;  five step grandchildren, Brennan (Danica) Marti, Briana (Nick) Farris, Kent (Amber) Walters, Elise Hastings, and Dalton Hastings; five step great grandchildren Everhett Marti, Tatum Farris, Reese Farris , Livija Walters, and Eleanor Walters.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Taylor Jacob Walters, and Kolin Hastings.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.

A memorial service will begin at 4:00 PM on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, OH.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Gerard's Catholic Church, 240 West Robb St., Lima, Ohio 45801.
