Roseanna "Grandma Dot" Dent

Roseanna Mae "Grandma Dot" Dent, 79, transitioned at 8:55 a.m. Saturday at her home in Lima, Ohio.

The world was blessed with the most precious rose - Roseanna Mae (Phillips) Dent, born July 1, 1932, in St. Mary's, Ohio, to Arthur and Anna Elizabeth (Bass) Phillips, Sr. of Grover Hill, Ohio. She was the oldest of six and the seventh of twelve. She grew up in Grover Hill, Ohio on the "Home Place" with her parents and 11 siblings, which included 4 brothers and 7 sisters. She attended Grover Hill Elementary and South High in Lima. As a young woman she began working as a Nanny caring for children of numerous families. She then was swept off her feet by Paul Lee Black; they were wed on March 17, 1951, and bore seven children. She then met Eugene U. Dent I. They married in 1967 and lived a nice family life until they departed ways. Roseanne spent the rest of her life devoted to her children and family.
Roseanna enjoyed her career as a teacher's aide at Whittier Elementary School and RCA in Findlay as an Assembler until she became disabled. Unable to work, she then invested in every life where paths crossed with her unconditional love. From her full life she was blessed with numerous grandchildren in five states and great-grandchildren in seven states, droves of nieces, nephews to the fourth and fifth generation, cousins, and more. She adored her many pets as family. There are many adopted siblings, nieces, nephews, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as honorary family that will always hold a place with her.
She leaves to cherish her memory four sons, Charles Kevin (Karen) Black of San Jose, CA; Paul Anthony Black Sr. (Beth Siebert) of Lima, Michael Dewayne Black (Kimberly) of Atlanta, and step-son Eugene Ulvesford (DeeDee) Dent II, of Delaware, Ohio; two daughters Debra Ann Black Napper (Redell I)of Lima, Cheryl Lynn Williamson (Jonathon) of Lima; a sister Marlyn Faye Miles (Leonard-deceased) of Columbus, and two brothers, Arthur (Clemmie) Phillips Jr. of Lima, James Lee (Gertrude) Phillips of Lima; 37 Grandchildren, 44 Great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. She will be missed by all!
She was baptized at Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church and longtime member, she was a member of Middlecreek Zion Baptist Church near Roselms, Ohio, and supported several other ministries.
She was preceded in death by her children Michael and Michelle; parents; husbands Paul L Black, Eugene U Dent I; brothers Irvin William Phillips Sr, Herbert Phillips, Alvin E Phillips; sisters Thelma Mines, Juanita Greenwade, Pauline Young, Mary Middlebrook, and Marva Young; 1 grandchild and 7 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and family from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be at 2:00 P.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, with Pastor Charles Black officiating.

Burial will follow the service in Middle Creek Zion Baptist Cemetary, Grover Hill, Ohio
