Russell E. Hood, 75, died at 10:15 p.m. August 23, 2008, at St. Rita?s Medical Center. He was born August 28, 1932, in Lucasville, Ohio to John and Hester Nelson Hood, who preceded him in death. Mr. Hood retired as a supervisor from Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant, after 30 years. He was an Army veteran serving from September 11, 1952, to July 9, 1953. Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn (Mike) Jennings, of Elida, Ohio; two sons, Keith (Linda) Hood, of Delphos, Ohio, and Kevin Hood, of Lima, Ohio; five grandchildren, Mike (Sherri) Heising, of Delphos, Ohio, Steven (Lori) Jennings, of Rocky River, Ohio, Jasmine (Todd) Taylor, of Pineville, Louisiana, Amber (Thomas) Ball, of Delphos, Ohio, and Laura Jennings, of Athens, Ohio; a step grandson, Travis Wilson, of Roundhead, Ohio; six great-grandchildren, Halee Heising, Maely Jennings, Ethan Jennings, Emilyn Jennings, Brendan Taylor and Ethan Ball; and three sisters, Fran Castle, of Medina, Inez Weir, of Sciotoville, Ohio, and Opal Bennett, of Lucasville, Ohio. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Hood and Charlie Hood; and a sister, Thelma Farris. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Lawrence Hannahs will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
