Russell W. King

January 5, 1970 — December 6, 2024

Lima

The man the myth the legend, Russell W. King Sr Passed away on Friday December 6th, 2024. But not before leaving us with a great life story to tell. He was born in Oklahoma and from what he has told us the whole state was his friend. From competing in every sport offered to being president of every club available it was clear he went to school for social hour not the books.

After graduation he joined the Marine Corps where he made many memories. We will share the best. The one where he met his wife. They fell in love, started a family, and moved to Ohio where he started working as a Laborer. You could spot him on the job site wearing his Detroit Lions hard hat, drinking a Coke, and eating his honey ham lunch sandwich. He spent 30 years working hard and very recently retired. Which he was proud to tell anyone with ears.

When he was not working you could bet, he was down in his mancave specifically sitting at his bar with the heater turned too high watching the Sooners or Lions, and the occasional cooking show. Although no cooking show could top his restaurant quality omelets or his famous taco casserole. At home he’d make sure to keep busy with racking leaves, cleaning his truck, cracking dad jokes, playing foosball, or snapping pictures of his grandkids. He was a fierce friend, enthusiastic sideline fan, and always looking for a way to help. Above all else he loved this family and always provided for them. Anytime we smell balsam fir or see an oven pizza we will think of him. Although we didn’t get the 220 years he promised us he gave us 54 of the best years we could ask for.

Along with his wife Nichole King, he is survived by his daughter, Haley (Tanner) Hunt; son, Russell (Regan) King Jr.; grandchildren: Mitchell Hunt, Barrett Hunt, Hudson Hunt, and Wrenly King; brother, Howard Hogan; and sister Alicia Hogan. He was preceded in death by his parents.
