Ruth Eileen Carroll, 72 of Lima, Ohio died on Monday, September 26, 2011, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.
Born Friday, November 18, 1938 in Lima, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Eugene O'Keefe and the late Mildred Siebeneck O'Keefe.
She was a member of the first graduating class from Lima Central Catholic High School in 1957, and obtained her Accredited Record Technician Degree. On January 27, 1962, she married Ronald Ray Carroll who survives. On January 27, 2012 they would have celebrated their 50th anniversary. She retired from St. Rita's Medical Center August 1, 2008, following 52 years of service, 26 years in Administration and 26 years in Medical Records. Following her retirement she began volunteering at St. Rita's in the ICU and Surgery waiting rooms, an activity she greatly enjoyed. She loved attending her grandchildren's' activities at Elida and Upper Scioto Valley. She also enjoyed planning and being involved with family events. She was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cincinnati Reds. The family would like to thank all the special physicians and other caregivers at St. Rita's as well as the Gerad Center for Cancer Treatment, who tried diligently to help her fight her battle. She always said everyone was so kind and treated her so well.
Surviving is her daughter Lisa Carroll, of Elida, Ohio, sons, John (Ann) Carroll of Elida, OH and Dan (Lea Ann) Carroll of Alger, OH, daughter, Deb (Garry) Sevitz of Elida, OH. She was also survived by her beloved grandchildren Britney Sevitz, Brooke Sevitz, Whitney Carroll, Theran Carroll, Bridget Sevitz, Shelby Carroll, Brent Sevitz, Torey Carroll, Bryce Sevitz, and Kaycee Carroll, brothers, Daniel O'Keefe of Lima, OH, John (Marcia) O'Keefe of Lima, OH and Robert (Sherry) O'Keefe of Elida, OH., brother-in-law Ronald Wheeler of Defiance, OH., several nieces and nephews, and special family friends, Mary Ann and Murrell Wheeler of Lima, OH.
She was predeceased by infant children, twins Robin and Randall, and twins Thomas and Tammy, as well as a brother, William (Ann) O'Keefe, sisters, Patricia Wheeler and Carol O'Keefe, and a niece Kerri O'Keefe.
A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with the Rev. David M. Ross officiating.
Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, OH.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
