Ruth H Gibson

Ruth H. Gibson, 92, passed away at 12:13 a.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Lima Convalescent Home surrounded by her family.

Ruth was born on July 15, 1930 in Delphos, Ohio, to Anthony J. and Hilda (Wurst) Weber.  On May 17, 1958 she married James E. O’Connor, who passed away on January 21, 1962.  She then on June 6, 1964 married Robert “Dick” Gibson who preceded her in death on May 3, 2019.

Ruth was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church and worked as a nurse at St. Rita’s Medical Center, and Lima Convalescent Home. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed having her family around and was known for her sense of humor and kindness.

She is survived by her children: Cathy (John) McNamara of Lima, Bridget Gervais of Endicott, NY, Dennis (Marcia) Gibson of Fishers, IN, Daniel (Jami) Gibson of Belmont, NC, and Mark Gibson of Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren: Nick, Katie, Matt, Sarah, Annie, Jack, Maggie, Elli, Jacob, P.J., Danny, Luke and Grace; and great-grandchildren: Ethan, Cameron and Kenley.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Paul Gervais; daughter-in-law, Maryclare Gibson; sisters, Patty (Bob) Schmit and Betty (Ken) Kill; and brothers, Robert (Louise) Weber and Richard (Angela) Weber.

The family will receive friends from 3 – 7 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio, with a Rosary Prayer Service at 7 p.m.  The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at St. Gerard Catholic Church.  Father Mike Sergi will officiate.  Burial will follow at Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at The Greens for their compassionate care of their mother.
