Ruth Rieman, 81, died at 4:35 p.m. October 10, 2008, at Lima Memorial Health System. She was born June 21, 1927, in Maysville, Ohio to James William Swauger and Mary Ellen Gross Swauger-Kunkleman, who preceded her in death. Ms. Rieman was a tailor who worked for Wobbe Cleaners, Springfield, Ohio. She volunteered at the Council on Aging. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 691, Wapakoneta, and AMVETS Post 1, Lima. She had also volunteered with the Lima Canteen during World War II. She donated her body to medical science at The Ohio State University Medical School. Survivors include a son, Gerald (Stella) Beeler, of Savannah, Georgia; five daughters, Phyllis (Lee) Darnell, of Thomasville, Georgia, Sondra Pence, of Tallahassee, Florida, Gail (Pete) Heffley, of Lima, Ohio, Ruth Ann (Claude) Sturgill, of Lima, Ohio, and Sue Fiore, of Oak Park, Michigan; three sisters Eva Ebert, of Springfield, Farrell Nelson, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Rachel North, of Glendale Heights, Illinois; and 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Swauger; two sisters, Lydia Louitta Chitman and Sara Shimp; and three granddaughters. A memorial gathering will be held November 8.
