RUTH M. SCHEID, 86, died at 1:57 a.m. March 15, 2005, at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born March 31, 1918, in Lima, Ohio to Frank and Elizabeth Brown Ribley, who preceded her in death. On April 14, 1942, at St. John Catholic Church, Lima, she married George T. Scheid Jr. who survives in Lima, Ohio. They were devoted to each other for 62 years. Mrs. Scheid had been a key punch operator at Westinghouse Electric Corp., and had worked at City Loan during World War II. She was a charter member of St. Charles Catholic Church, where she served as the first president of its Altar Rosary Society, active in committees, was a 25-year cafeteria volunteer, was in the choir and was organizer and chairwoman of the nursing home visitation. She was a 1936 graduate of St. John's High School and a had attended Merrimore College. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors also include three sons, David T. Scheid of Salisbury, Maryland, Stephen M. (Beverly) Scheid of Granger, Indiana, and Vince Scheid of Lima, Ohio; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Scheid (Jim) Weaver of Springfield, Virginia, and Susan Kay Scheid (Chris) Girardot of Washington, D.C.; and 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Bernadine Ribley and Mary Ribley; and three brothers, Robert Ribley, Adrian Ribley and Paul Ribley. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Charles Catholic Church. The Rev. Stephen Blum will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles Catholic Church or the Lima Central Catholic High School Building Fund.
