Sammy L. Stansbery, 71 of Lima, Ohio died at 12:24 PM Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born on Thursday, June 5, 1941 in Wyandot County, Ohio to Guy Stansbery and Lucille Pryor Stansbery who both preceded him in death. He married Doris Salyers on May 17, 2002 in Lima and she survives in Lima.
Mr. Stansbery retired as a welder from General Dynamics in 1996. He attended Full Gospel Tabernacle and loved going to church and reading his Bible. He enjoyed hunting, golf, fishing and bowling. He liked gardening and working with flowers and his power tools.
Surviving are a son, Lee Stansbery of Clyde, OH, a daughter, Julie (Steve) Overmeyer of Fremont, OH, Two step-sons: Randy Salyers of Lakeview, OH and Todd Salyers of Elida, OH; two step-daughters Anita (Jerry) Van Tilburg of Lima, OH and Dana (David) Geib of Wapakoneta, OH. Also surviving are Four Grandchildren, Three Great-grandchildren, Thirteen step-grandchildren and ten step-great-grandchildren. four brothers; Roger (Gloria) Stansbery of Crosby, TX, Tim Stansbery of Upper Sandusky, OH, Paul (Barb) Stansbery of Marseilles, OH and Gary (Laural) Stansbery of Portage, OH, five sisters; Peggy (Melvin) Raymond of Upper Sandusky, OH, Rose Feltis of Cape Coral, FL, Alice McCarthy of Upper Sandusky, OH, Diane (Gary) Gregory of Pickens, SC and Paulette (Richard) Mowery of Fostoria, OH
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Stansbery and Phil Stansbery and a sister, Vicky Stansbery.
A Funeral service will be on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Jarrell officiating.
Interment will be in Allentown Cemetery, Lima, OH.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, December 16, 2012, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home and from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Monday, December 17, 2012,
