Samuel E. Kundert, 97, of Lima, passed away at 8:25am on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Vancrest of Delphos.
He was born on March 3, 1921 in Lima, OH to the late Walter and Emma {Yaeger} Kundert. On April 1, 1948 he married Mary Josephine Stultz, who preceded him in death on September 30, 2017.
Samuel is survived by his daughter Mary (Patrick) Moyler, son Mark E. Kundert, grandchildren Neil (Terri VanHorn) Koenig, Brian (Angela) Koenig, Erin (Kathleen Babbitt) Koenig, and Tonya Koenig, great-grandchildren Melissa (Josh) Timms, Haley Koenig, Cody Koenig, and Abby Koenig, and nieces and a nephew.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters Helen Kundert Lockheed and Ruth Kundert Walters.
In 1938 he graduated from Lima South High School and after one year at Capital University, he graduated from Indiana Technical School with A.B.S.E.E. He was then drafted into the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged at a LT (jg) in 1946. He worked for Westinghouse Electric Co. 42 years and retired March 1, 1985. He was a longtime resident of Bath Township and also helped originate the Bath Fire Department and volunteered there for 30 years. Samuel was a life member of Lima Lodge 205 F&AM, VFW Post 1275, and the Senior Service Center of Lima. He was also a member of Forest Park United Methodist Church.
His family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 10-11AM at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, OH. A funeral service will follow at 11AM. Pastor Tim Benjamin will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Park at a later date.
