Dr. Sanford D. Goldman, 83, died at 11:42 p.m. April 25, 2008, at Lima Memorial Health System. He was born November 3. 1924, in Columbus, Ohio to Joe and Katie Goldman, who preceded him in death. On January 4, 1951, in Columbus, Ohio, he married Jeanne Mamet, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Dr. Goldman graduated cum laude from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. He practiced dentistry in Lima for 53 years. He was a member of the Ohio Dental Association and the Northwest Dental Society. He was a member of Temple Beth Israel-Shaare Zedek. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a past board member of Westside Swim and Tennis Club and a member of the Hogge Creek Tennis Club. He was a charter member of the Four Seasons Pathfinders Walking Club. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Sandy loved the great state of Ohio and was always glad to come home to Ohio, the Buckeye State, from the many travels he and Jeanne enjoyed throughout the years. Survivors also include two daughters, Joyce Bigam, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Joan (Alvarez Hardin) Goldman, of Columbus, Ohio; a son, James (Sarah) Goldman, of Cincinnati, Ohio; three granddaughters, Kate Bingham, Emily Goldman and Grace Goldman; two sisters, Shirley Hoffman and Adele Benjamin, both of Columbus, Ohio; a niece and several nephews; and a sister-in-law, Lois Goldman. He was preceded in death by a brother, Morrey Goldman; and a son-in-law, David Bigam. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Rabbi Javier Cattapan will officiate. Burial will be in Jewish Cemetery, Woodlawn. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
