Sharon (Newton) Bilopavlovich, 81, passed away at 7:25 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at her home.
Sharon was born August 25, 1941 in Lima, Ohio to Thelma (Ireland) Lintemoot-Newton and later adopted by James W. Newton.
Sharon graduated with the Lima Central Catholic class of 1959, the ultimate “Party” class that other classes envied, keeping in touch through many class reunions throughout the United States. She was a member of the class of 1959 reunion committee, organizing the gatherings with her husband John, and classmates Joe and Susan Medsker and Dick and Kathy Seitz over many dinners and cocktails. Sharon went on to work at St. Rita’s Medical Center for nearly forty years, retiring as a medical librarian for physicians, nurses, or anyone else in need of her services. She was very passionate in her work and gave 110 percent in all that she did. Sharon supported St. Rose church and School as it was a big part of her life. She also volunteered at Springview Manor, performing manicures, and helping with holiday dinners.
Sharon is survived by her husband of nearly forty years, John Bilopavlovich who she married on August 14, 1983; daughter, Kathleen (Mark) Wechta of Lima; grandsons, Jacob Wechta of Lima, and Ryan (Amber) Wechta of Henderson, Nevada; and sisters, Janet (Merrick) Thomas of Denver, Colorado and Beverly Harshman of Murfeesboro, Tennessee. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and special close friends: Becky Ford, Matt and Diana Hampshire, Erick Holbrook, and Darren Wood. Also surviving is Leo, the family cat of thirteen years, who gave her some grief, but also a lot of joy and many laughs.
Sharon was preceded in death by her son, Christopher; and brothers, James M. Newton and Robert J. Newton.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. E. Tremoulis; office manager, Amanda and staff; the Cleveland Clinic; and Dr. Michal Gostkowski. Also a special thanks to St. Rita’s Hospice Care for making Sharon’s journey a little easier.
The family will receive friends from 2 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2022; with a short service beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
