Sharon Anne Freel Swords
79, died at 3:23 PM on Sunday, September 9, 2018, at Lima Convalescent Home in Lima, Ohio.
She carried no letters behind her name, received no great rewards in her lifetime, yet she has made an impact on many by her quiet care. She made her life’s work her family. Her husband, Charles Swords whom she married on her 21st birthday, September 12, 1959 in Lima, Ohio, he survives in Lima. They were parents of Charlotte (Terry) Hefner, Scott (Darlene) Swords and later delighted in grandchildren, Dustin (Elizabeth) Hefner, Scott (Fiancé-Ashley) Eley, Lindsay Hefner, Jamey (Heather) Davis, Keith Hefner, Derek (Erica) Coverstone. She was a great grandmother to Cade and Ellie Hefner, Zander Eley, Leo Hefner, and Baby Coverstone. And was called Aunt Sharon by twenty-three nieces and nephews from California to Massachusettes. Sharon is survived by a sister, Lois Swincher, of Port Charlotte, FL.
Sharon Anne Freel was born on September 12, 1938, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Walter Freel and Lois (Eller) Freel.
Sharon graduated from Shawnee High School, attended Miami University and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Lima (Formerly grace UMC). She loved cardinals, playing solitaire, watching and reading mysteries, camping and traveling. She worked voting poles, volunteered at church and was always available to drive someone to an appointment when needed.
She was preceded in death by her brother, David Freel.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A funeral service will begin at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, OH. Pastor John Foster will officiate.
Interment will be in Memorial Park.
