Shequayla Sheree Daniel, 35, passed from this life on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at her home in Lima. She was born on April 23, 1989, in Lima, Ohio, to Darlene Flint and Horace Daniel Sr.
Shequayla graduated from Penn Foster High School in 2009. In 2016 she received a certificate from Ohio School of Phlebotomy and also had a certificate from Court of Common Pleas Juvenile & Probate Division as a Detention Officer, which was the job she was most passionate about. She also worked for Mercy Health and Bio Life Lab Corp. She was a very compassionate and caring individual; she loved to take care of and help people. She was a wonderful mother. Shequayla enjoyed traveling and loved being a DJ at get-togethers
She is survived by her mother, Darlene Flint; two daughters, Jayla Horton and Justyce Horton (Andre Horton); son, Eric Upthegrove III (Eric Upthegrove II); sisters, Terika Daniel and Cheyenna Daniel; brothers, Lavare Daniel, Jerome Daniel Sr., and Antonio Daniel; close cousins, Renee Bolden and Mariah Thomas; close nephew, Horace Daniel III; brother-of-the-heart, Ryan J. Nathan; special stepmom, Kathy Harris; special nephew, Jerome Daniel Jr.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her father, Horace Daniel Sr.; stepmother, Doris “Momma Dot” Daniel; brothers, John Freeman and Horace Daniel Jr.; maternal grandparents, Geneva Horne and Mavin Flint; paternal grandparents, Annie Ruth Daniel and Hollis Daniel Sr.
A Balloon Release will take place at 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Martin Luther King Jr. Park. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, October 28, 2024, at Savior’s Grace Ministries, Lima, Ohio. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. following visitation. Rev. Claytonia Logan will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima.
