Shirley D. Dorsett, 83, passed away at 6:10 p.m. on December 6, 2022, at her home in Lima, surrounded by her family.
Shirley was born on November 13, 1939 in St. Marys, Ohio, to Robert L. and Hazel (Gibson) Spicer Sr. On August 6, 1960 she married Harold Dorsett, who preceded her in death on September 15, 2006.
Back in the day, Shirley liked to play cards. She retired as a Nurses Aid. In recent years she enjoyed listening to Jimmy Swaggart and Gospel music. She was also a member of Lima Pilgrim Holiness Church.
She is survived by her sons: Harold Dorsett II of Lima, Robert Dorsett of Ohio City, and Richard (Carol) Dorsett of Wapakoneta; seven grandchildren: Cindy “Sissy” Kelley, Cayla (Nick) Miller, Stormie Decker, Joey Hunter, Chasity (Ben Davis) Dorsett, Mitchell Dorsett, and Madeline Dorsett; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Sara Webb; and brothers, Daniel Spicer, David Spicer, and Chuck (Sue) Spicer.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Cynthia Hunter; brothers, Robert Spicer and Dennis Spicer, and sister, Evelyn Spicer.
The family will receive friends from 2 – 7 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on December 10, 2022 at the funeral home. Rev. Don Nichols will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita’s Hospice.
