Stanley E. ?Skip? Ackerman 60, died at 9:30 a.m. April 5, 2010, at his residence. He was born August 8, 1949, in Lima, Ohio to Fred and Laura Bucher Ackerman, who preceded him in death. Mr. Ackerman had been a welder at General Dynamics until 1989. He was a member of American Legion Post 96, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370 and Fraternal Order of Orioles Nest 173. He was an avid racing enthusiast who enjoyed NASCAR. He also enjoyed football and had coached the Lima Steelers in the 1970s. He loved his family very much. A special thanks to Cindy for taking care of him during his illness. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. Survivors include two sons, Scott Ackerman, of Ligonier, Indiana, and Kevin Ackerman, of Lima, Ohio; three daughters, Cindy Ackerman Sexton and Brittany Ackerman, both of Lima, Ohio, and Shonda Ackerman, of Ligonier, Indiana; three stepchildren, James Decker, Debra Decker and Rhonda (Jay) Turner, all of Lima, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, Bradley, Sean, Rusty, Ciarra, Jessica, John, Kevin, Nick, Trey, Kierra, Tasha and Brandon; three great-grandchildren, Madison, Jaylen and Talena; a brother, Ron (Jill) Ackerman, of Lima; and two former wives, Sherry Routson and Carla Ackerman, whom he had married in 1989. He was preceded in death by a brother, Buddy ?Fred? Ackerman; and two sisters, Sandra Bush and Darlene Cady. Private family services will be held at a later date.
