Susan Dickerson

Susan Dickerson, 75, passed away at 1:17 a.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.

Susan was born on September 14, 1947, in Greenville, Kentucky, to Stephen Lloyd and Frances (Russell) Lovell.  On July 13, 1969, she married her love, Bruce Gaylord Dickerson, who preceded her in death on April 11, 2003.

Susan was a 1965 graduate of Lima Senior High School and went on to graduate from Eastern Kentucky University in 1969 with a bachelor's degree in Sociology.  She was involved in the Girl Scouts for over 65 years and served as President of the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio.  She was a member of the AAUW and a professional volunteer.  She was also a member of Shawnee United Methodist Church where she was very involved.

She is survived by her daughter, Dixie (Shane Mason) Finch; son, Bruce (Christy) Dickerson II; grandchildren: Madeleine Finch, Jude Finch, Amelia Finch, and Abigail Dickerson; and a stepbrother, Greg Phelps.

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Maudine “Mundy” Lovell.

The family will receive friends from 4 – 8 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2023, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio and from 10 – 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Shawnee United Methodist Church.  The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church.  Pastor Lori Reiber and Pastor Charlotte Hefner will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Shawnee United Methodist Church.
