Susan Marie Garee
64, at 2:26 P.M. January 3, 2016, was taken peacefully home by Jesus as she was surrounded by her family and in the loving arms of her devoted husband, Richard.
She was born April 6, 1951 in Lima, Ohio, to the late Walter and Gloria George. On July 27, 1968, she married the great love of her life, Richard Garee Sr., who survives. She is survived by her four children, Lisa Kohler of Raleigh, North Carolina, Michelle Arnold of Lima, Ohio, Richard Garee Jr. of Raleigh, NC and Gloria Sandy of Raleigh, NC.
She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren, Tristan Arnold, Zachary Kohler, Nicole Arnold, Miranda Arnold, Jessica Kohler, AnnaMarie Garee, Abigail Garee, Hannah Kohler, Ricky Garee, Kenny Kantner, and Andrew Kohler, as well as five great grandchildren, Vallayla Kohler, Starla Kohler, Drezden Kohler, Reinette Arnold, George Smith, one sister, Linda Moore of Lima and two brothers Nick George of Lima and Mike George, of Florida.
Susan is a graduate of Ohio Northern University where she graduated 2nd in her class. She also attended the Petit College of Law at Ohio Northern University in pursuit of a Doctorate Degree. While in college, she was bestowed numerous honors and awards, including membership in the prestigious Mortar Board and multiple Honor Societies. She was the first woman to receive a scholarship to the Petit College of Law. She was an accomplished poet and her works have been published in several books. She had a gift for crafting and the culinary arts and she enjoyed sharing her passion with her family and friends.
Susan was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a faithful and compassionate servant of the Lord. It was her deep faith that provided the loving foundation for her family. Despite many hardships and challenges she always persevered and was an inspiration and a blessing to all who knew her.
She is deeply loved by her family and the precious legacy she left will live on through her husband, children and grandchildren, who have been so very blessed by her love, devotion, and faith.
Memorial contributions can be made to the organizations very dear to her heart, Southside Christian Church of Lima, the Allen County Down Syndrome Association and the Ronald McDonald House in Columbus at Nationwide Children's Hospital.
The family will be holding a private service at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral home with Pastor Wanda Werking officiating.
