Susan Sue Mayo

Susan Jayne ?Sue? Mayo 69, died at 11:45 a.m. November 12, 2009, at her residence. She was born June 15, 1940, in Pittsburgh to Ward M. and Dorothy Thomas White, who preceded her in death. On August 12, 1967, she married Robert Mayo, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mrs. Mayo received her associate degree from Kellogg Community College, Battle Creek, Mich., and her bachelor?s degree and master?s degree in education from Eastern University, Ypsilanti, Mich. She retired as an educator from Lima City Schools after 30 years. She was a member of Shawnee United Methodist Church. She was a member of the National Education Association, St. Rita?s Auxiliary and Trinity Chapter 16 Order of the Eastern Star. She had served on the boards of ARC and HUD. She enjoyed reading and playing bridge. She loved her job and her family. Survivors also include a daughter, Shannon (Tom) Loeffler, of Chillicothe, Ohio; a son, Robert Mayo II, of Lima, Ohio; three grandchildren, Aiden Loeffler, Maxxium Loeffler and Elizabeth Loeffler, all of Chillicothe, Ohio; two sisters, Barbara Grim, of Lowell, Michigan, and Margaret Stebbins, of Comstock, Michigan; a brother, Ward White, of Sherwood, Michigan; 18 nieces and nephews, Beth and Michael Hines, Kelly Warners, Tom Grim, Scott and Neen Grim, Melissa, Ashley, Heidi, Staci, Kimberly, Craig, Travis, Josua, Jacob, Cody, Dillon and Austin; and special friends, Lori and Ruby Smith, Jami and Tim Scribner, Hillary Smith and several others. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Charlotte Hefner will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Research Foundation, 5005, LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244.
