Sylvia C. Brinkman died at 10:06 a.m. June 10, 2008, at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born in Chicago to Frank W. and Edna Finn Best, who preceded her in death. On Dec. 4, 1971, in Chicago, she married Fred C. Brinkman, who survives in Lima. Mrs. Brinkman worked at Otterbein Retirement Community. She had cared for the elderly for nearly 30 years. She was a member of Sugar Creek Church of the Brethren. She loved traveling with her family and making crafts and candy. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and White Sox and of Tiger Woods. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, family member, friend and colleague. She knew the Lord and Jesus Christ as her Savior. Survivors include six sons, James E. (Deanna) Allyn, of Argos, Ind., John R. (Michelle) Allyn and Joseph S. (Lisa) Allyn, both of Culver, Ind., Scott C. (Michelle) Brinkman, of Lima, Christopher T. Brinkman, of Dublin, and Daniel P. (Elizabeth) Brinkman, of Phoenix; eight grandchildren, Mark Allyn, Tim Allyn, Kyle Allyn, Alyssa Allyn, Zachary Allyn, Addyson Allyn, Josephine Brinkman and Henry Brinkman; and two cousins, Ellen (Rick) Jablonski, of Wilmette, Ill., and Bryan Mott, of Madison, Wis. She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Rose Snow and Frank Kraczinski, who raised her. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Marty Moyer will officiate. Burial will be in Sugar Creek Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
