Ted D. Wade, 65, died at 8:46 a.m. Sept. 3, 2009, at his residence. He was born Sept. 21, 1943, in Elida to Eugene L. and Harriet B. Growdon Wade, who preceded him in death. He married Carla Kohl, who survives. Mr. Wade was a sergeant at Lima Correctional Institution, where he was a training officer, guard and member of the special weapons and tactics team. He was a lieutenant at the American Township Police Department. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, SASS and was a Drug Abuse Resistance Education officer. He played in the D.A.R.E. band, Syren. He loved hunting and riding his motorcycle. He had a great sense of humor and loved his family and his dog, Casper. Survivors include a son, Kurtis Thiesing, of New York City; four daughters, Jody Gossard of Wapakoneta, Angie (Travis) Hall, of Cridersville, Tori (Scott) Self, of Omaha, Neb., and Christina (Michael) Miller, of San Antonio; two brothers, Jim (Janet) Wade and Don (Diane) Wade, both of Elida; and a sister, Jessie Foust, of Delphos. He was preceded in death by a son, Scott Wade. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Rich Rakay will officiate. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
