Tempy Smith Anderson, 93, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Lost Creek Care Center.
Tempy was born on October 8, 1931, in Jackson, Mississippi to Nathan and Annie M. (Henry) Smith.
Tempy loved to cook for her family and friends. She worked at many restaurants, including Milanos, Alpine Village, and a school cafeteria. She was a foster parent for a while. She loved being with family, always having a house full. Tempy also enjoyed watching her soap operas with a cup of black coffee. She attended church at 11th street Baptist when she was able to do so. In her earlier years, on the weekends she would enjoy getting together with her brothers and sisters and having a good time.
She is survived by her children, Gregory Sr. (Alicia) Anderson, Kenneth Sr. (Lisa) Anderson, Barbara Smith and Ann Bounds; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great- grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and sister Queenie Harris.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Delores Watkins; and siblings, Nathan Smith, Charles Smith, Willie Smith, James Smith, Cary Smith, Johnny Smith, Miles Smith, Willa-Mae Smith, Pinny Washington, and Cornelius Smith.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. The funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. Pastor Sherri Pace will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for funeral expenses.
