Teresa Agnes Brown
93, died at 7:05 PM on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at Springview Manor Nursing Home in Lima, OH.
Teresa was born on January 14, 1924, in Lima, OH, to the late Joseph Francis Link and Gladys (Lyle) Link. On June 18, 1949, she married Raymond Patrick Brown Sr. who preceded her in death on December 24, 1996.
Teresa was the eighth of twelve children. Her family instilled a deep love of God and family in her. They were taught to serve God, family, friends, and community. Three of Teresa's sisters were Sisters of Charity. The Links loved and supported each other, creating a large extended family. Teresa was a long-time member of St. John's Catholic Church in Lima, Ohio and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a graduate of St. Rose School and St. Rita's School of Nursing. During World War II she worked at Ft. Benjamin Harris Army Hospital and Darnell General Hospital. After raising her family, she returned to nursing and finished her career at the Oaks Convalescent Home. She volunteered at the American Red Cross, St. Rita's Auxiliary and many school and church groups. She served on the LCC School Board for 10 years and also served on St. John's Parish Council.
She is survived by eleven children, Kathleen (Robert) Reed, of Dayton, OH, Raymond (Darlene) Brown, Jr., of Lima, OH, Margaret "Peggy" (Jeff) Jackson, of Lima, OH, Mary Kay (Paul) Fleck, of Bluffton, OH, Joseph (Julie) Brown, of Lima, OH, James (Lori) Brown, of Dublin, OH, Rosemary (Phillip) Hemmi, of Hallettsville, TX, Richard (Betsy) Brown, of Weston, FL, Terence (Deborah) Brown, of Allison Park, PA, William (Kitty) Brown, of Canfield, OH, Teresa (Dave) Wooten, of Papillion, NE; thirty eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; and a brother, John "Jack" Link, of Dover, DE.
She was preceded in death by seven sisters, Sister Agnes Miriam (Gertrude), Sister Ann Joseph (Gladys), Mary Holman, Sister Rose Seton (Ethelyn), Ruth Murray, Helen Hittle, Virginia Niewold and three brothers, William Link, Robert Link, Joseph Link Jr. and a granddaughter, Mary Jo Jackson.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, OH with a Rosary Service at 4:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at St. John's Catholic Church in Lima. Father David Ross will officiate.
Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, OH.
