Thelma Irene Gross, 90, died at 1:25 a.m. July 12, 2008, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home. She was born April 27, 1918, in Wapakoneta to Benjamin and Mary Gross Schaub, who preceded her in death. On April 17, 1936, in Ohio, she married Dewey Gross, who died July 20, 1975. Mrs. Gross had worked at Pangles and Shafer Meat Market. She was a member of Lima First Missionary Church since 1948. She was a member of Blue Star Mothers Association. She was past president and a member of its color guard and attended national conventions. She was a member of Able-Disabled and Helping Hand Club. She was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 Auxiliary and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370 Auxiliary, both in Lima. She enjoyed attending concerts in the park and musical events with her daughter. Survivors include a daughter, Lillian Boroff, of Lima; a sister, Lucille North, of Springfield; a brother, Leroy (Marie) Schaub, of Mansfield; two grandchildren, Ann Turner, of Lima, and Wayne Gross, of Colonial Heights, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Eric Gross and David Gross; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by two sons, Dewaine (Marie) Gross and Norman Gross; and three brothers, Virgil Schaub, Herman Schaub and Benjamin Schaub. Services will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor J. Clement Schott will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Wapakoneta. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where a Blue Star Mothers memorial service will begin at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Star Mothers.
