Thomas Edward ?Tom? Anderson, 67, died at 6:02 a.m. May 17, 2010, at his residence. He was born November 28, 1942, in Dayton to Charles Thomas and Carrie Rosella Thompson Anderson, who preceded him in death. Mr. Anderson was a 1960 graduate of Wellston High School, Wellston, and a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tenn. He retired from the Department of Defense working as a budget analyst at the Lima Army Tank Plant. He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served from May 1967 to July 1968. He served as a chief master sergeant and received the Airman?s Medal, the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with palm, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Metal, the Vietnam Service Metal with three bronze battle stars and the Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Academy Ribbon. He was a member of Lodge 513 Free & Accepted Masons, Lafayette; the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley, Dayton; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, where he had served as commander, MOC Pup Tent 6, AMVETS Post 1, Vietnam Veterans of America Landing Zone 89 and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 19, all in Lima; and American Legion Post 513, Wellston. Survivors include a son, Brian Thomas Anderson, of New Carlisle, Ohio; a daughter, Ashley Victoria Cariello, of Grand Rapids, Ohio; a brother, Timothy Joseph Anderson, of Chillicothe, Ohio; four grandchildren, Joseph Lloyd Anderson, Christopher Brian Thomas Anderson, Steven Michael Anderson and Cody Allen Anderson, all of Georgia; two adopted grandsons, Eric Porter and Andrew Porter; two nephews, Tim (Lori) Anderson Jr., of Chillicothe, Ohio, and Nathan Anderson, of Toledo, Ohio; a niece, Alisha Gray, of Circleville, Ohio; two great-nephews, Ethan Gray and Brandon Gray; and a great-niece, Layla Anderson. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles William Anderson. Graveside services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday in Hamden Gardens Cemetery, Hamden. Chaplain Richard Coon will officiate. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where a Masonic service will be held at 5:30 p.m. followed by a Scottish Rite Ring Service, and noon to 1 p.m. Friday at McWilliams Funeral Home.
