Thomas L. ?Tom? Brookman,72, died at 2:30 p.m. May 3, 2009, in Georgetown, Kentucky. He was born February 6, 1937, in Lima, Ohio to Clifford Brookman and Eleanor Fink, who preceded him in death. On October 5, 1963, he married Lois M. Sites, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Brookman retired in November 1987 as a platoon chief from the Lima Fire Department after 27 years. He attended Lima Community Church of the Nazarene. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War serving from 1954 to 1957. He loved bowling, camping, carpentry work and his dogs. Survivors also include two daughters, Lori A. (Brian) Coon, of Lima, Ohio, and Debbie K. (Carey) Waltz, of Van Wert, Ohio; two grandsons, Thomas Coon and Aaron Coon, both of Lima, Ohio; two brothers, John ?Jack? Brookman and Theodore ?Ted? (Debb) Brookman, both of Lima, Ohio; two sisters, Ellen ?Nell? Greer and Elizabeth ?Betty? (David) Grouver, both of Lima, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Carol Brookman and Dixie (Bob) Galbraith, both of Lima, Ohio; and a brother-in-law, George (Doris) Sites, of Lima, Ohio. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirlee Brenneman and an infant; and a brother, Donald ?Don? Brookman. Services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Andrew Lauer will officiate. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where a Firefighters service will be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for distribution to charities.
