Thomas Gast

THOMAS G. GAST, 76, died at 12:40 p.m. August 29, 2005, at his residence. He was born February 8, 1929, in Lima, Ohio to Charles A. and Alice McNamara Gast, who preceded him in death. On November 10, 1984, he married Judy Stemen, who survives in Elida, Ohio. Mr. Gast was a master plumber having owned and operated Gast Plumbing & Heating from 1954 to 1994. He was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370, Knights of Columbus Council 2661 and Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54, where he had been a member of the golf league, along with three golfing buddies who were known as "The Snakes." He was a graduate of St. Gerard High School. Survivors also include five children, Michael G. (Kathleen) Gast of Lima, Ohio, Lynn (John) Siciliano of Cohocton, New York, and Steven T. (Millie) Gast, Jeffrey (Sue) Gast and Thomas M. Gast, all of Lima, Ohio; three stepsons, Randall (Beth) Bartels of Lima, Ohio and Blake (Shannon) Bartels and Shawn (Stephanie) Bartels, both of Elida, Ohio; and 12 grandchildren, Daniel Siciliano, Marissa Siciliano, Emily Gast, Jarrett Gast, Marlo Gast, Joseph Gast, Hope Gast, Hailey Bartels, Paige Bartels, Riley Bartels, Aidan Bartels and Sophia Bartels. He was preceded in death by a sister, Abigail Schenk; and a brother, James C. Gast. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Gerard Catholic Church. The Rev. James McDonald will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Gethsemani Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where a BPOE service will be held at 7:45 p.m. and a wake service at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 616 S.
