Tommie A. Ward, 81, died at 9:15 a.m. August 20, 2008, at St. Rita?s Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1927, in Lima, Ohio to Oscar Carl and Eva Burgner Ward, who preceded him in death. Mr. Ward retired from Lima Correctional Institution and from Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton/Clark Equipment. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, American Legion Post 96 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing ball. Survivors include a son, Thomas Ward, of Belton, Texas; two daughters, Eva Reynolds, of Columbus Grove, Ohio, and Joyce (John) Bullock, of Lima, Ohio; a brother, Carl (Barbara) Ward, of Lima, Ohio; a sister, Joanne (Morris) Dingledine, of Lima, Ohio; and eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ken Reynolds; and three sisters, Barbara Jane Gudikans, Margaret Simmons and Cora Marie. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
