Tony Mitchell

83, died at 5:00 AM on Saturday, January 13, 2018, in Lima surrounded by his family.

Tony was born on January 23, 1934, to the late Max and Hazel (Kaiser) Mitchell.  On  June 5, 1955, he married Carolyn Ann  (Roberts) Mitchell who preceded him in death on December 12, 2016.

He retired after 40 years of service in sales from Fruit Distributors. He was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church.

He had a lifelong involvement in athletics. He was a member of the Ohio ASA Hall of Fame, and served as the District Chief of Umpires. He was also a High School Basketball Referee and Umpire for local softball teams.

He is survived by three daughters, Toni (Bill) Schroeder, of Lima, Sally (Dayton Fandray) Windle, of Lima, Jenny (Wes) Wandell, of Plainwell, MI and two sons, Rich (Julie) Mitchell, of Edmond, OK, Robb (Sue) Mitchell of Dublin, OH; nine grandchildren, Angela Schroeder, William Schroeder, Jenah Wandell, Robbie Wandell,  Mitchell Wandell, Zachary (Brooke) Mitchell, Seth (Kyrianna) Mitchell, Corey Mitchell, and Colin Mitchell.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 P. M. to 7:00 P.M. on  Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m.

Rev. Barb Dafler will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Allen County Humane Society, St. Marks United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
