Trevor L. Jones
78 years, of Lima, OH, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away November 5, 2014 at home surrounded by his family.
Trevor was born January 6, 1936 in Convoy, Ohio to Dale and Pauline (Slattery) Jones, who preceded him in death. After graduating from Crestview High School, Trevor enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1955 and served as a U.S. Embassy Guard in Korea and Hong Kong. It was in Hong Kong that Trevor met his wife of 54 years, Mary (Ablong) Jones, who survives in Lima. They married in February 1960 in Hong Kong, and shortly thereafter Trevor was discharged and they returned to the States.
Trevor worked 30 years for Holsum Bakery and five years for Pepperidge Farm. Upon retirement, he worked part-time for University of Northwest Ohio (UNOH). Trevor was a member of the U.S. Marine Embassy Guard Association, and Trevor and Mary enjoyed travelling each year to attend the association's reunions held in various places throughout the United States, such as Quantico, San Antonio, San Diego, Williamsburg, Nashville and Biloxi. He was also a long-time member of Lima Eagles Airee #370.
Trevor was a diehard Cleveland Browns and Indians fan. He loved gardening and tinkering around his home, as well as his ice cream, beer and his constant sidekick, Zoey, the family dog.
Trevor is survived by four children, Michelle (Jeff) Brandstadt of Deerfield, NY, Stephanie (Jeff) Fisher of Lima, Mike (Emily) Jones of Lima, and Gayle (Jim) Barnes of Waterville, NY; nine grandchildren, Max Brandstadt, Sam Brandstadt, Jennifer LaGrange, Lee Hoersten, Shannon Hoersten, Brooke Place, Morgan Sanchez, Anna Barnes, and Emma Barnes; two great-grandchildren, Chloe Hoersten and Trevor Rice.
