Urbanus Burdette Crites,
93, died at 11:20 P.M. on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Elmcroft Assisted Living Center in Lima, Ohio.
Urbanus was born on Wednesday, May 28, 1924, in Cridersville, to the late Zeldon and Lillian (Edgington) Crites. On Thursday, July 29, 1943, he married Ora Lee “Gracie” who preceded him in death March 26, 2003.
He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII, serving in Guam and the Philippines. He was a member of Pilgrim Holiness Church. He worked in the concrete business for more than 50 years. Urbanus was a treasure hunter, collected knives, memorabilia (coins) and enjoyed winter in warm Florida.
He is survived by: sons, David (Becky) Crites, Gatlinburg, Warren (Joann) Crites, Elida, Barry (Linda) Crites, Elida, Michael (Debra) Crites, Elida, and Mark Crites, Lima; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren and daughter-in-law, Doreen.
He was preceded in death by: son, Gary Crites; great grandson, Jacob Sexton and three brothers.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday, November 15, 2017 and one hour prior to the service on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A funeral service will begin at 12 PM on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio. Pastor Donald Nichols will officiate. Interment will be in Allentown Cemetery, Allentown, Ohio.
