V. BEA AUGUSTUS, 80, died at 10:30 p.m. June 27, 2006, at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton, Ohio. She was born August 16, 1925, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, to Charles F. and Mossie Phelps Janeway, who preceded her in death. In 1944, she married E. Joseph Augustus, who died in 2004. Mrs. Augustus had worked at AAA, Montgomery Ward and Westinghouse Electric Corp. She had been a volunteer at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed needlepoint. Survivors include a sister, Elsie Givens of Lima, Ohio; three half-sisters, Jane Hinel of Tennessee, Haley (Bob) Hulley of Kentucky and Jean (Ortho) Fox of Lima, Ohio; a half-brother, Bill (Helen) Janeway of Kentucky; a step brother, Melvin (Marcia) Simpson of Largo, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gladys Joann Augustus; two brothers, Paul Janeway and Roy Janeway; and five sisters, Irene Pratt, Leona Brogan, Lucille Money, Juanita Gambrel and Marie Margraves. Services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Gary Hohman will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Woodlawn Cemetery.
