63, died at 3:15 A.M. on Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at her residence in Lima, Ohio.
Velma was born on September 29, 1950, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Hunter Certain and Lucy (Lewis) Certain.
Velma married William Dewey Carpenter III, he preceded her in death. She then married Richard Haiber, he also preceded her in death. She was a former member of the Lima Baptist Temple and a member of the Eagles Aerie. She enjoyed playing cards and she loved her family and was the most caring person you could ever meet.
She is survived by: three sons, Jackie Wayne Gilbert, of Lima, OH, Jerry Lee (Lisa Spees) Carpenter, of Lima, OH, and William D. (Keri) Carpenter IV, of Lima, OH; Three Grandchildren, and three great granddaughters; brothers Jack Certain, Hagar Certain, John Certain, Danny Certain, all of Greenfield, OH; sisters - Mary Brown, Bonnie Howland, both of Greenfield, OH, and a sister Gustie Church, of Lima, OH. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 3, 2014 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A funeral service will begin at 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 3, 2014 and Pastor Gary Hohman will officiate.
