Velma R. (Paroubek) Shivley, 66, of rural Delphos, passed away on May 18, 2015, at 10:10 a.m., at St. Rita's Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Velma was born January 21, 1949, in Bay Village, Ohio to the late John and Velma (Koch) Paroubek. On June 28, 1969, she married Gordon Shivley, who survives.
She is also survived by two daughters, Julie (Brian) Woods of Lima, and Amy (Shane) Hoback of Wapakoneta; five grandchildren, Leah, Sarah, and Michael Woods, and Emma and Claire Hoback; one sister, Janeen Keary, and one brother, Jon Paroubek, both of Mentor, Ohio.
Velma spent her life caring for her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family, and her grandchildren were the light of her life. Velma was extremely adept at working with her hands. Sewing, crocheting, crafting, painting, and cooking were her passions and talents. Velma was an extremely compassionate and selfless woman who will be dearly missed by her family. Her immediate family will be having a private service in her honor in lieu of a viewing and funeral.
