VERA COLLEEN HAWK HADSELL, 77, died at 1:42 p.m. April 1, 2006, at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born October 16, 1928, in Arlington, Ohio, to John P. and Gladys Pifer Oxley, who preceded her in death. On October 27, 1951, she married Carl L. Hawk, who died September 27, 1970. On October 16, 1976, she married Harold E. Hadsell, who died March 18, 1999. Mrs. Hadsell was a 1947 graduate of Dola High School. She was a 50-year member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370, Lima, and was Madam President four times. She was a seven-year member of American Legion Post 96 and a 20-year member of Lima Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She worked at Lima Memorial Health System and St. Rita's Medical Center, retiring from St. Rita's Medical Center. Survivors include four daughters, Darlene (Dean) Ewing of Lima, Ohio, Karen Sue (Denny) Latham of Wapakoneta, Ohio, Ruth M. Ladd of Auburndale, Florida, and Marilyn (Mike) DeVita of Lima, Ohio; a son, Edward D. Hawk of Lima, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, Karen Parks, Michael Parks, Lisa Latham, Brett Latham, Adrian Garcia, Aaron Garcia, James "Jim" Garcia, Kevin DeVita, Andy DeVita, Thad Hawk, Valerie (Josh) Luke and Emily Hawk; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Edward "Bim" Oxley of Ada, Ohio. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
