86, died at 3:20 PM on Monday, August 14, 2017, at Springview Manor Nursing Home in Lima, Ohio.

Virgil E. was born on Monday, November 24, 1930, in Delphos, Ohio, to the late Virgil H. Thines and Mary (Keiffer) Thines. On Saturday, April 7, 1956, he married Georgia Mae (Nichols) Thines who survives in Lima.

He was retired from ExCello after 39 years as a Tool and Die Inspector. Virgil was a member of St. Gerard's Catholic Church and their Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie #370, former Cub Scout Leader of Pack 47, former President of the Youth Hockey Association and a member of the UAW.

He is survived by two sons, Lawrence (Jenny K.) Thines, of Lima, OH and Timothy (Shelley Barton) Thines, of Findlay, OH; three daughters, Theresa A. Basinger, of Lima, OH, Lucy (Randall) Garland, of Elida, OH and Amy S. (Richard) Pina, of Mesa, AZ; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; a sister, Clara Gillispie, of Lima, OH.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Bohn and great granddaughter, Alaina Louise Willamowski.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home followed by a Rosary service at 7:00 PM on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.

A Mass of Christian Service will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 18, 2017 at St. Gerard Catholic Church in Lima, OH. Father Mike Sergi and Father Jim Szobonya will officiate.

Entombment will be in Gethsemani Mausoleum, Lima, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Name Society of St. Gerard's Catholic Church or Mass offerings for Virgil said at St. Gerard Catholic Church.
