Virginia Adair Lewis, 92, died at 1:37 p.m. June 3, 2009, at The Ridge at Shawnee. She was born December 1, 1916, in Lima, Ohio to Noble L. and Elaine Meuser Martin, who preceded her in death. On October 22, 1935, she married Jasper Claude Lewis, who died December 26, 1996. Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, watching grandchildren and tending her roses. She was a wonderful cook who always put her family first. Survivors include three daughters, Patricia M. Bowsher, of Lima, Ohio, Virginia McPherson, of Lebanon, and Sandra (Robert) Horne, of Florence, Kentucky; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Lewis, of Lima, Ohio; a sister Nancy (Bud) Hite, of Toledo, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Betty Lewis Ulrich, of Toledo, Ohio; and 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, a step great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and -nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Carol Maxwell; two sons, Claude David and Robert Stanley Lewis; two sons-in-law, William Bowsher and John McPherson; three brothers, Noble Martin, Jerry Martin and Tom Martin; and a sister, Lois Hand. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday June 6, 2009 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Phyllis Fetzer will officiate. Burial will be in St. Matthew Cemetery.
