Virginia Ann "Ginny" Shine
83, died at 5:12 PM on Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at Springview Manor Nursing Home in Lima, Ohio.
Virginia Ann was born on December 21, 1929, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Frank Caughman and Mabel (Hodde) Caughman.
On Friday, October 27, 1950, in Ohio, she married Jack Richard Shine who survives in Lima. She retired from Marimor School. She was a well known soloist in the Lima area who sang the National Anthem at a Cincinnati Reds ballgame in 1991 and for President Reagan in 1980. She was a member of the Faith Christian Church and their Women's Bible Study Group, a former director of music at Olivet and Faith Christian Churches, a past member of Lima Chapter of the Sweet Adelines and member of the Derby Dolls Quartet and the Lafayette Chorus. She also volunteered as an usher at the Civic Center, the American Cancer Society and the United Way.
She is survived by: a son Mark (Claudia) Shine, of Lima, OH; a daughter Becky (Dan) Snyder, of Lima, OH, a son David (Linda) Shine, of Monroeville, PA; a sister Ruth Powell, of Lima, OH: eight grandchildren, Sheri Ludwig, Jason Snyder, Joshua Snyder, Amanda Zambrano, Elizabeth Damaske, Katherine Moreno-Suarez, Emma Shine, and Clara Shine; six great-grandchildren, Taylor Ludwig, Zoe Ludwig, Noah Ludwig, Jonan Snyder, Roslin Snyder, and Ezra Damaske; and sister-in-law Susan Caughman of Carmel, IN.
She was preceded in death by: a sister Shirley Reineke; a brother James Caughman; great grandchild, William Zambrano.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, November 15, 2013 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Faith Christian Church 2223 Shawnee Rd. Lima, with Rev. Jason Snyder officiating.
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Christian Church or Springview Manor.
