Vonda M. Beery, 73, died at 1 p.m. July 6, 2010, at the Cleveland Clinic. She was born August 21, 1936, in Bluffton, Ohio to Calvin R. and Freda M. Freyman Burkolder, who preceded her in death. On October 15, 1954, in Bluffton, Ohio, she married David E. Beery, who died December 5, 2006. Mrs. Beery was a member of South Side Christian Church, where she served as church organist for more than 15 years. She had served as church organist at the First Evangelical and Reformed Church in Lima for 20 years and St. John United Church of Christ in Bluffton for 15 years. She had substituted in area churches. She had been a member of the American Guild of Organists since 1973. She also served as luncheon pianist for the Lima Sertoma since 1996. She was a 1954 graduate of Bluffton High School. Survivors include two sons, Thomas D. (Michelle) Beery, of Miamisburg, and Gale M. Beery, of Fort Wayne, Indiana,; a daughter, Julie A. (Kevin) Tuttle, of Lima, Ohio; three grandchildren, Lauren A. (Eric Busche) Beery, of Lebanon, Brendan A. (Jherilyn) Tuttle, of Valdosta, Georgia, and Britny E. Tuttle, of Lima, Ohio; and three nephews, Alan (Mary Ann) Basinger, of Bucyrus, Ohio, Harlan (Pat) Basinger, of Pandora, Ohio, and Gary (LaRue) Basinger, of Hilliard, Ohio. She was preceded in death by a sister, Harriet J. Basinger. A memorial service will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday at South Side Christian Church. The Rev. Douglas Adams and Wanda Werking will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Bluffton. Friends may call from 3 to 9 pm. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home and 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the church.
